SOME of the world's best swimmers will use this weekend's Fina/Arena World Cup to prepare for the short-course World Championships in Istanbul next month.
They include medallists from this year's Olympics such as American Jessica Hardy (gold, women's 4x100m medley) and Australian Christian Sprenger (silver, men's 100m breaststroke).
Said Hardy: "I just hope to continue improving on the times that I've done so far. I love competing outdoors in the warm weather. There's great hospitality here, which always makes it easier to swim faster. It's my last competition before Istanbul, so I want to set myself up really well."
With the absence of Olympic champion and world record holder Cameron van der Burgh of South Africa, Sprenger will be hoping he will be able to take the gold.
