Tennis: Sabine Lisicki shocks Wimbledon champ Serena Williams
LONDON (AFP) - Sabine Lisicki ended Serena Williams' reign as Wimbledon champion, as the German 23rd seed clinched a stunning 6-2, 1-6, 6-4 victory over the world No.1 and 16-time Grand Slam winner in the fourth round on Monday.
Lisicki, a Wimbledon semi-finalist in 2011, will play Estonia's Kaia Kanepi for a place in the last four.
Britain's dreams of a first woman in the quarter-finals for 29 years were shattered, when tearful home favourite Laura Robson was knocked out by Kanepi.
In a closely-fought match, the Estonian just had the edge in the crucial points to win 7-6 (8-6), 7-5.
