Swimming: Olympic gold medallist Laure Manaudou retires for second time
PARIS (AP) - Former Olympic swimming champion Laure Manaudou says she is quitting for good after announcing her retirement for the second time on Wednesday.
Manaudou, who won France's first swimming gold in 52 years at the 2004 Athens Olympics, retired in September 2009 following her poor showing at the 2008 Beijing Games.
The 26-year-old said: "I'm stopping. I swear I'm stopping this time for good and that I won't come back."
Manaudou won gold in the 400m freestyle in Athens but finished last in the final of the same event four years later, seventh in the 100m freestyle and was eliminated in the heats of the 200m backstroke.
