THE Singapore swimming fraternity is in mourning following the death of Woon Sui Kut, one of the longest-serving officials on the local scene.

The 84-year-old died at Changi General Hospital on Saturday afternoon, a day after suffering a fall at home.

He had only just returned from officiating at the SEA Games in Myanmar on Tuesday.

A familiar face at local swim meets, Woon served as secretary-general of the Singapore Amateur Swimming Association (now the Singapore Swimming Association) from 1964 to 1999.

He also officiated at 10 editions of the Olympic Games, between 1964 and 2004.
