Former national bowler Remy Ong has been named national head coach by the Singapore Bowling Federation (SBF) and will lead the Republic's keglers in their chase for glory at this year's Asian Games in Incheon.

The 36-year-old became a full-time national coach from last year and was previously the deputy head coach. He will be assisted by Helmi Chew and Clara Lau, also former national bowlers, in the coaching set-up.

The appointments were announced at the association's annual awards night on Wednesday.

Said Ong, a two-time Sportsman of the Year (2003, 2007): "The responsibility is definitely going to be higher. I'm happy that SingaporeBowling recognises that I'm able to handle this job and I will do my best to fulfil my role."
