Singapore sends four senior officers to Interpol to tackle match-fixing

A team of four senior officers from the Singapore Police Force (SPF) and Corrupt Practices Investigation Bureau (CPIB) will be heading to the Interpol Headquarters in Lyon, France, within the next two weeks, the SPF said today.

They will join the Interpol Global Anti-Match-fixing Taskforce to assist in match-fixing investigations.

Led by a Deputy Assistant Commissioner from the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the SPF, the Singapore team will work with Interpol to engage member countries affected by match-fixing. The team aim to collect available information and gain access to evidence, witnesses and suspects from these countries. The Singapore team will also explore avenues to offer assistance and share information with countries affected by match-fixing.

Meanwhile, Interpol's general secretary Ronald Noble said today that the SPF have notified authorities in Italy that a suspected match-fixer was on a flight from Singapore to Milan.
