Singapore athletics team win 6 medals at Malaysia Open

Singapore's 11-member team returned from the Malaysia Open Athletics Championships over the weekend with three golds, two silvers and a bronze.

Thrower Wan Lay Chi was the Republic's best performer, taking gold in both the women's discus and shotput events. She first threw 13.51 metres in the shotput, then posted a season's best of 47.89m in the discus for the title.

Veteran thrower James Wong also posted a season's best of 48.70m, but had to settle for silver behind Thailand's Narong Benjaroon (50.77m).

Wendy Enn also won a silver in the women's 400m, clocking 59.17 seconds.
