Sailing: Singapore win Nanjing YOG spot in girls' windsurfing but miss out for boys

SINGAPORE'S place among the world's most promising female windsurfers at this year's Youth Olympic Games has been confirmed.

This, thanks to Ynez Lim's third-placed finish in the girls' Techno 293 class at the SIM 33rd Singapore Open Asian Windsurfing Championship at the National Sailing Centre.

Her result earned the Republic a spot at the August Games in Nanjing, joining fellow qualifiers Hong Kong, Thailand, Japan and hosts China as Asia's representatives.

"We wanted to finish on the podium today and fought very hard for it," said the 15-year-old, a silver medallist in the girls' RS:One event at last month's SEA Games.
