S-League unveils former Spurs and Japan World Cup player Kazuyuki Toda

Former Japan international Kazuyuki Toda has been confirmed as the S-League's first star signing in more than a decade.

The ex-Tottenham Hotspur player, who was unveiled to the media on Wednesday afternoon, inked a one-year deal with Singapore Armed Forces FC. His salary was not disclosed.

Toda shot to fame in 2002 as a key member of Japan's national team that reached the Round of 16 at the World Cup. He played in the English Premier League for Tottenham Hotspur in 2003, and is set to make his S-League debut when the new season kicks off next month.

"I received a great offer from SAFFC and want to challenge myself in a new foreign country," said the 35-year-old midfielder, who last played in Japan's second division. "I don't really know much about Singapore football. But I consider myself an adjustable person and I hope to make a big impact for my team."
