DAIM Hishammudin kicked off his 2013 season brightly on Sunday, winning the Rotax Invitational Malaysia on the Sepang circuit.

The 14-year-old, a driver under the Caterham F1 Team development programme, qualified fifth out of 27 drivers aged 13 to 17 but went on to win two heats and the pre-final, putting him in pole position for the final, which he also won.

The Singaporean beat drivers from Malaysia, China and Japan to the top spot.

Daim is the reigning junior champion of the Rotax Max Asia Challenge Series.
