New Sports Hub could play host to Rugby World Cup Sevens in 2018
SINGAPORE has declared its interest in hosting the Rugby World Cup Sevens.
The Republic is set to go up against the likes of the United States and France in staging the premier international rugby sevens competition in 2018.
If chosen, the 55,000-capacity National Stadium at the upcoming Singapore Sports Hub in Kallang will host the quadrennial tournament.
Singapore Rugby Union (SRU) president Low Teo Ping: "We have a good chance because Japan is hosting the 15s World Cup in 2019 so Singapore can offer a good lead-in tournament in Asia one year earlier.
