Singapore's netballers were beaten 32-60 by Uganda on Wednesday at the Nations Cup, posting their first loss after four matches in the tournament.

The Africans are unranked due to a lack of international exposure, but proved they remain a threat with their strength in defence. Singapore are ranked 21st in the world.

A victory over Uganda would have guaranteed Singapore a place in Saturday's final. Teams enjoy a rest day on Thursday before playing their last round-robin match on Friday. Singapore play the United States then.

In other matches, 2008 champions Papua New Guinea trounced the US 72-31, while Sri Lanka beat Ireland 65-49.
