NEW ORLEANS (AFP) - Anthony Davis, the top scorer and rebounder for the New Orleans Pelicans, will be sidelined for the next four to six weeks with a broken left hand, the National Basketball Association club announced on Tuesday.

Davis suffered the injury on Sunday in the first quarter of the Pelicans' 103-99 victory over the New York Knicks.

Doctors diagnosed Davis with a non-displaced fracture of his fifth metacarpal on the left hand.

He was the top pick in last year's NBA Draft and a member of the United States Olympic squad that captured gold at the London Games.
