TOKYO (AFP) - Japan's Yuichi Sugita and Yasutaka Uchiyama completed a 5-0 whitewash over Indonesia to wind up the Davis Cup Asia-Oceania Zone Group I first-round tie on Sunday.

After taking an insurmountable 3-0 lead in the best-of-five contest on Saturday, Japan's No. 4 Sugita breezed past Indonesia's No. 1 Christopher Rungkat 6-1, 6-3.

Then Uchiyama, who made a winning debut for the national team on Saturday when he and Tatsuma Ito took the doubles for a 3-0 lead, whipped Wisnu Adi Nugroho 6-1, 6-3 in the last dead rubber.

The two matches were played in a shortened best-of-three as Japan had already secured a place in the second round, where they will play either South Korea or India in April.
