Golf: Singapore Open to continue till 2017
THE Singapore Open will continue for another five years, but the future title sponsor and venue for Asia's richest national golf Open has not been confirmed yet.
Right holders World Sport Group (WSG) announced on Thursday that it has extended its partnership with the Singapore Golf Association (SGA) to continue promoting the Open till 2017.
But it did not say who will step in for British bank Barclays, which had announced in May that it would not be extending its seven-year sponsorship of the event.
"We owe Barclays and the other sponsors a fabulous week so it would not be fair to hijack the event with such news," Chris Jordan, WSG's senior vice-president of golf, said on the sidelines of the Open which teed off today at the Sentosa Golf Club.
