MIAMI (AFP) - Reigning Masters champion Adam Scott has a chance to dethrone Tiger Woods as world number one with a victory in this week's US$9 million (S$11 million) World Golf Championships Cadillac Championship.

The 33-year-old Australian, who already achieved one dream by becoming the first Aussie to capture the coveted green jacket with his triumph last year at Augusta National, would accomplish another by taking the top ranking.

"It's impossible not to think about it," Scott said. "It would be a dream come true to make it to that point."

Scott has plenty of work ahead of him. In addition to having to win the event over the revamped layout at Doral's Blue Monster course, Woods must finish outside the top six.
