MELBOURNE (AFP) - Japan's Kamui Kobayashi sarcastically hit back at his critics on Monday, after an investigation found his Australian Grand Prix crash was due to brake failure.

The Caterham driver was taunted on Twitter after he ploughed into the back of Felipe Massa's Williams at the first turn, taking both cars out of the race.

But after a probe found faulty brakes were to blame, Kobayashi tweeted: "Someone criticise me on twitter but I want ask how can I stop the car without rear brake? I need jump out to push back the car?"

Before the investigation was completed, an angry Massa had called for a one-race ban for Kobayashi, comparing it to a crash caused by Lotus's Romain Grosjean in 2012.
