Former paddler Tan Paey Fern appointed chef de mission of Asian Youth Games in Nanjing

Former national paddler Tan Paey Fern has been appointed chef de mission of the Asian Youth Games this August and will lead Singapore's contingent of youth athletes to Nanjing, China.

The Singapore National Olympic Council (SNOC) announced on Wednesday that the 39-year-old as will head Singapore delegation to the multi-sport Games, which will feature 15 sports.

Said SNOC secretary-general Chris Chan: "This is a youth Games and we want to pick chef de missions whom the athletes can relate to."

Tan, now the assistant coach of the national table tennis youth team, had featured in the 2004 Athens Olympic Games. She also took part in 10 SEA Games, three Asian Games and three Commonwealth Games.
