Football: Last-gasp header by Khairul Amri gives LionsXII 2-1 victory over Selangor

KHAIRUL Amri's dramatic stoppage-time winner handed the LionsXII a 2-1 win over arch-rivals Selangor on Saturday, in coach Fandi Ahmad's Malaysian Super League home debut.

The striker rose highest to head home Shahfiq Ghani's pin-point corner and send a sold-out Jalan Besar Stadium into raptures.

It was a tale of three headers. Left-back Shakir Hamzah had opened the scoring, also from a set-piece, just before the break. However, Selangor forward Fitri Shazwan planted a superb header that looped past Izwan Mahbud to equalise in the 58th minute.

The tight affair seemed headed for a stalemate until the 28-year-old Amri, who was once touted as the next Fandi, struck and duly ripped off his jersey to celebrate with the fans in the stands.
