GRENOBLE, FRANCE (AFP) - Michael Schumacher is still in a "critical but stable" condition in a French hospital, his spokesperson Sabine Kehm said on Saturday.

She added that any unofficial information circulating about his state was "pure speculation".

Kehm also said in a statement that a camera which the retired Formula One champion had been wearing on his helmet when he had his ski accident nearly a week ago was "voluntarily" given by the family to French investigators.

The comments came after former Formula One driver Philippe Streiff, a friend of Schumacher's, told Sky TV he had been told by surgeon and friend, Gerard Saillant, who is at the Grenoble hospital, that the German's life was "out of danger".
