Cycling: Swiss body's chief quits in fallout over McQuaid's re-election bid
GENEVA (AP) - The president of the Switzerland cycling federation has resigned in fallout from his controversial support for UCI president Pat McQuaid's attempt to run for re-election.
Swiss Cycling says Richard Chassot resigned over disagreements in the managing committee over trying to nominate McQuaid.
McQuaid, whose home federation in Ireland withdrew its nomination, has sought a valid candidacy to stand against British challenger Brian Cookson on Sept 27.
Chassot led attempts to secure a nomination from Switzerland, where McQuaid lives.
