Cricket: Singapore to host Emerging Teams Cup, which will feature IPL players
Fans in Singapore will get to see top-class cricket action when the Republic hosts the Asian Cricket Council's Emerging Teams Cup from Aug 17-25.
Promising young cricketers from the national Under-23 teams of Test-playing countries India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh will feature in the 50-overs-a-side tournament, which will also have the senior national teams from Afghanistan, Nepal, United Arab Emirates and Singapore.
Players like India's U-19 World Cup-winning captain Unmukt Chand, Indian Premier League-experienced Suryakumar Yadav, Ashok Maneria and Jasprit Bumrah and Sri Lanka's mystery spinner Akila Dananjaya are set to showcase a level of cricket in Singapore not seen since the international triangular series in 2000 between Pakistan, New Zealand and South Africa.
The matches will be played at the Singapore Cricket Association's ground in Kallang and the Singapore Cricket Club's pitch at the Padang. Entry is free.
