Christabel Goh claims coveted spot to play against elite golfers

CHRISTABEL Goh will be Singapore's sole representative at golf's HSBC Women's Champions tournament.

The 24-year-old beat compatriot Heng Su-Ann in a tense play-off to win the local qualifying event at the Sentosa Golf Club (SGC) on Thursday.

Goh, who shot a five-over 77 for a 156 total to force the play-off, birdied the extra hole from eight feet.

The Orlando resident will fly the Republic's flag at the tournament, which will be held at the SGC from Feb 28 to March 3.

This year's edition will feature more than 60 of the world's elite female golfers, including world No. 1 Tseng Ya-ni and world No. 5 Feng Shanshan, the first Chinese golfer to win a Major.
