Chance for 5 ST readers to race David Coulthard in UBS Go-Kart Challenge
CALLING all karters in Singapore: Come test your skills against former Formula One star David Coulthard.
For the first time, global partner of F1, Swiss bank UBS, and The Straits Times are offering five ST readers a chance to take part in the UBS Go-Kart Challenge on Sept 20 (11am-3pm).
They can take on the Scot who won 13 grand prix races in his F1 career.
Entering the contest, which is part of The Straits Times Appreciates Readers (Star) programme, is simple.
E-mail a photo (accompanying caption should be less than 50 words, file size should be 1MB max) or a video (less than 30 seconds) that illustrates the "I love racing" theme to firstname.lastname@example.org
The reader with the best entry also wins an "Ultimate UBS F1 experience". He will get an exclusive VIP transfer with Coulthard from the Ritz-Carlton Hotel to the Kartright Speedway, during which he can chat with the Scot.
After all, who better to get tips from than Coulthard, whose racing career, like so many other F1 drivers, started in karting.
The 42-year-old began karting at age 11. He raced for about six years before graduating to cars and, eventually, F1 - the pinnacle of motor sport.
The "Ultimate UBS F1 experience" package also includes a pair of Premier Walkabout tickets (for Sept 21-22) as well as exclusive UBS F1 premiums.
Said Caroline Darcy, UBS' Asia Pacific head of sponsorship: "We thought this would be a creative way to take our Global Partnership of F1 off-circuit and onto the Go-Kart track with David Coulthard, our F1 ambassador.
"This year's Singapore GP race promises to be a fantastic opportunity to entertain and engage our clients and the F1 fans of Singapore."
Participants in the contest should include their name, NRIC number, mailing address, mobile number, e-mail address and date of birth, together with the photo/video in their e-mail.
The deadline for entries is noon on Sept 8.
The winners will be announced in the ST on Sept 10.
Note: Participants must be above 18. Winners will be expected to participate in media/publicity requirements. Judges' decision is final.
