Asian Games: S'pore can learn from South Korea's foresight - Acting Min Tan Chuan-Jin
Singapore played host to the 2014 Incheon Asian Games road show tour of the continent on Thursday, the third Asian city after Tashkent, Uzbekistan and Dubai of the United Arab Emirates to do so.
Acting Minister for Manpower Tan Chuan-Jin, who is also executive committee member of the Singapore National Olympic Council, said in his address that Singapore has much to learn from South Korea's foresight in sports development. Besides next year's Asian Games, South Korea will also host the 2018 Winter Olympic Games.
He said in his address: "South Korea leads the region as one of the pioneers in major Games organisation. Singapore, leaving its infancy to its next stage of sports development, will be looking at the 2014 Asian Games for inspiration as we plan the 2015 SEA Games at the soon-to-be-completed Singapore Sports Hub."
Meanwhile, bowler Jazreel Tan was also named as Singapore Goodwill Ambassador for the 2014 Asiad, while Singapore Bowling Federation Jessie Phua will be chef de mission.
