Workplace injuries increased, deaths fall in the 1st half of 2012

There were more injuries in the workplace in the first half this year, even as the number of workplace fatal injuries fell. There were more injuries in the workplace in the first half this year, even as the number of workplace fatal injuries fell.

The latest Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) Statistics Report noted that there were 26 workplace fatal injuries, down from 31 in the same period last year.

However, the total number of workplace injuries rose by 10.4 per cent - from 4,778 in the first half of 2011 to 5,273 the same period this year.

This, according to the report released by the WSH Council and WSH Institute, came on the back of an increase of an increase of 11.3 per cent in minor injuries which form the bulk of reported cases.
