Workers' Party calls on public to refrain from speculating while authorities investigate riot
The Workers' Party (WP) on Monday urged the public to refrain from speculating and making unnecessary accusations as the police investigates the Little India riot.
In a statement on its website, the WP added that the Committee of Inquiry that Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong is convening should study the riot's underlying causes, so that the Government can address them and prevent such an incident from happening again.
"The Workers' Party wishes a speedy recovery to the Home Team officers and other victims who were injured during the riot in Little India...and we extend our condolences to the family of the deceased traffic accident victim, Mr Sakthivel Kumaravelu," said Mr Gerald Giam, the chair of the WP's media team and Non-constituency MP,
"We believe that the police will carry out a thorough investigation to apprehend those responsible for the riot to face the law."
