Woman jailed for abusing four-year-old daughter

Buy SPH photosA woman was jailed for seven months today for ill-treating her four-year-old daughter.
The 25-year-old accused had admitted to repeatedly caning and kicking the victim and throwing a chair towards her between Nov 22, 2010 and Jan 29 last year.
She also pleaded guilty to repeatedly caning, slapping, kicking her and using clothes pegs to pinch her back between February and March last year.
A district court heard that the accused had care and custody of the victim, now six, who was born out of wedlock. She has two other daughters arising out of a relationship with her 31-year-old ex-boyfriend.
