A 26-year-old woman is being investigated for making a false police report, in which she claimed she was the victim of a snatch theft.
The police said on Tuesday that the woman called for assistance about two weeks ago, at about 10.30pm.
She claimed that her purse, which contained cash and valuables worth $230, had been snatched by a stranger at the void deck of an HDB block around Hougang Street 52. The woman also gave specific details of how this "suspect" looked, and even described how the person came from behind and grabbed her purse before running away.
The police conducted extensive enquiries after her police report was made, and soon found out that the woman had lied, as she feared reporting the loss of her purse to her family members.
