A former childcare teacher was jailed for seven years on Thursday for drug trafficking. Lee Kim Hwa, 55, admitted to trafficking in one packet of not less than 7.68g of heroin near Blk 1 Rhu Cross on Sept 21 last year.

A district court heard that Central Narcotics Bureau officers arrested her that evening and seized a bundle wrapped with black tape in a red plastic bag from her handbag.

The packet contained 458.7g of granular/powdery substance that was analysed and found to have not less than 7.68g of heroin.

She admitted that she became involved in drug trafficking through her boyfriend, Chng Teck Choon also known as Ah Joe. She learnt the business from Chng, whom she cohabited in Tanjong Katong Road from December 2010 to end-April last year.
