Woman caught trying to smuggle heroin, three other suspected traffickers arrested
A Malaysian woman was arrested by the Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) on Saturday while attempting to smuggle 937 grams of heroin inside her underwear into Singapore on Saturday. Three men, who are suspected of trafficking drugs, were also arrested in a follow-up operation conducted that day.
At about 8.10pm that evening, Immigration and Checkpoints Authority officers stopped a Malaysian-registered car that was entering Singapore with two passengers at the car arrival zone of Woodlands Checkpoint. They were referred to the CNB for checks.
When two female CNB officers conducted a search on a female Malaysian passenger, they found two bundles of heroin hidden in the 22-year-old's underwear. The seized drugs have a street value of about $98,000.
Later that night, CNB officers arrested three Singaporean men, aged between 44 to 57, near Telok Blangah. They are suspected of trafficking drugs in Singapore, and one of them is believed to be the leader of the syndicate. Investigations are ongoing.
