MID-AUTUMN FESTIVAL BY THE RIVER 2012/CHINESE CULTURAL FESTIVAL 2012

Be dazzled by spectacular lantern displays and catch stage performances from local and overseas performers and fringe activities, including a food street featuring local and Chinese cuisines at this Mid-Autumn Festival By The River from Saturday to Sept 30.

The opening ceremony and light-up on  Saturday at The Central will be graced by President Tony Tan. Organised by Singapore Press Holdings' Chinese Newspapers Division.

TUNES OF HAKKA

Be treated to a feast of Hakka folk songs at this Singapore Chinese Orchestra concert featuring renowned Hakka vocalist from Huizhou, Huang Hong Ying, Taiwanese composer and singer Huang Lien Yu, local award-winning young pianist Clarence Lee Zheng Le and the Nanyang Kheh Community Guild Choir. The tunes include Lo Leung Fai's Medley Of Hakka Folk Songs, The World Of Hakka, Hakka Ladies Love To Sing and Sunrise.

SPH GIFT OF MUSIC: THE PHILHARMONIC WINDS IN TAMPINES

SSO GOES CASUAL WITH JOSHUA TAN and ALEXANDER SOUPTEL

This casual Singapore Symphony Orchestra concert under the baton of young conductor Joshua Kangming Tan, features violinist and SSO leader Alexander Souptel in Kreisler's Liebeslied and Libersfreud. Other works include Brahm's Hungarian dance No. 2 & 5 and Tchaikovsky's Russian dance from Swan lake, scored for violin and orchestra, as well as Mussorgsky's Night On Bald Mountain. The conductor will interact with the audience in the question-and-answer segment.

THE BALLAD OF TUN FATIMAH (BALADA TUN FATIMAH)

The restaging of this play by Teater Kami retells the epic tale of a beautiful legendary 16th-century Malay heroine, Tun Fatimah (played by Dalifah Shahril, right), who became the last Sultanah of Malacca. She was struck by misfortunes resulting in the death of her entire family and eventually the fall of the Malacca Empire. Written and directed by Atin Amat, a Cultural Medallion recipient last year and Teater Kami's co-founder and artistic director. Part of Pesta Raya, the Malay Festival of Arts. SINCERELY YOURS - THE HOMECOMING (KONSERT SALAM MESRA)

The "balik kampung" concert hosted by Khairudin Samsudin and Suhaimi Yusof, welcomes back and celebrates local Malay artists, who have made it big overseas. ANA RAFFALI

Acoustic pop sensation and self-taught guitar-playing singer from Malaysia, Ana Raffali, and her band, The Mahaens, will perform songs from her debut album, Ketika Aku Kecil, as well as her latest single, Sampai Bila. Also known as "the Girl in Baju Kurung", she became famous after winning the coveted Anugerah Juara Lagu Song of the Year award in 2011 for her tearjerker, Tolong Ingatkan Aku. In Malay. GOH LAY KUAN & KUO PAO KUN

This play presents an intimate portrait of pioneering arts couple of Singapore - Goh Lee Kuan and Kuo Pao Kun. It was derived from more than 40 hours of oral history interviews from the National Archives juxtaposed with seminal texts and plays of Kuo. Conceived and directed by Ong Keng Sen, it stars Karen Tan as Goh Lay Kuan and Lim Kay Tong as Kuo Pao Kun.

THE PERFECTION OF 10

Ten established Singapore playwrights who were invited to reflect on their experiences as theatre-makers and their notions of perfection, then captured a perspective of life on earth, in Singapore and in the theatre, through their own 10 stage items from their past productions. Directed by Sean Tobin with dramaturgy by Low Kee Hong, it is in English with some Mandarin, Malay and dialects with English surtitles.
