Volunteers at North West CDC increased to 4,000 last year, says Mayor Teo Ho Pin

The North West Community Development Council (CDC) had 4,000 volunteers last year, up from 2,880 in 2012 and 1,250 the year before.
North West District Mayor Teo Ho Pin revealed this at a celebration to recognise their efforts on Sunday night.
The volunteers helped to organise about 400 activities last year, reaching out to more than 180,000 residents. The CDC serves about 720,000 residents.
Fourteen awards were given out on Sunday to recognise individuals for their commitment to volunteerism, at the event at the National University of Singapore's University Cultural Centre. Guests of honour included Environment and Water Resources Minister Vivian Balakrishnan, who is also MP for Holland-Bukit Timah GRC.
