Two men caught on video fighting on MRT train arrested

Two men who were caught on video fighting with each other on an MRT train carriage have been arrested.

Police received a call from train station staff on Jan 11 at 11.55pm, alerting them to the fight. Officers from the Ang Mo Kio Police Division arrived at Yio Chu Kang MRT station soon after, but both men had already left.

The men, aged 40 and 50, were eventually identified and arrested yesterday in the Ang Mo Kio Avenue 9 vicinity for the alleged offence of affray. If found guilty, they face a maximum penalty of a jail term of one year and a $5,000 fine.

In the video, which has garnered thousands of views on YouTube, the two men can be seen kicking each other and yelling expletives on the train, which was between Khatib and Yio Chu Kang MRT stations. Another commuter eventually stepped in to break up the fight.
