Train commuters on the North East Line were delayed for almost an hour on Sunday due to a power fault, said rail operator SBS Transit. The fault affected services towards Punggol.

SBS Transit sent out an alert at 7.06pm via its mobile information app Iris, telling commuters to expect 20 minutes of additional travel time. In an update at 7.35pm, it said that free bus rides were available at designated bus stops between Dhoby Ghaut and Potong Pasir stations. Services were restored at 7.59pm, the operator said in an update.

Last Saturday, a stalled train at Clarke Quay station delayed services on NEL, affecting about 1,000 commuters.

On March 21, a power fault disrupted service along a stretch of nine North East Line stations for more than 30 minutes, affecting 5,900 commuters.
