Third man in 2011 Bras Basah Complex attack jailed for grievous hurt
The third and final man, who involved in the April 2011 attack on a computer technician who subsequently died, was jailed for four years and seven months and was given six strokes of the cane on Monday.
Nur Iksan Abdul Wahid, 25, was found guilty earlier this month of causing grievous hurt to Syed Ali Abdullah Alhamid, 25, with two accomplices by punching and kicking him at Bras Basah Complex at Bain Street in the early hours of April 15, 2011.
His defence was there was no common intention to cause skull fractures to the victim with his national service friends, Muhammad Arsyil Johar, then 21, and Muhammad Nazrul Ali, then 22.
Evidence led by the prosecution showed that Iksan and his party had gone to Soul, a club at the second floor of Odeon Towers, North Bridge Road, on April 14 that year. There, Iksan became acquainted with Syed Ali Abdullah. Both men left just before the club was closing and were seen together at Bras Basah Complex. What transpired between the two is unknown.
