Nee Soon residents can now turn to a centre in their neighbourhood for help with their mental, emotional and physical well-being.

The centre, located at Yishun Ring Road, will be manned by a Community Intervention Team comprising counsellors, psychologists, occupational therapists and nurses. The team will also support family members of their clients.

It aims to organise and conduct group mental wellness programmes, talks, workshops and relevant health promotion activities for residents. The centre also wants to help individuals above 16 who suffer from depression, anxiety or other mood disorders.

The 217 sqm facility with three counselling rooms celebrated its its open house on Wednesday with guests Dr Amy Khor, Minister of state for Health, and Dr Lee Bee Wah, Member of Parliament for Nee Soon GRC.

MP Lee said: "The Centre actively promotes a healthy lifestyle in the community through regular exercise, healthy diet, smoking cessation and encourages the residents to take charge of their own health and well-being, and better still, to engage in healthy activities with neighbours and friends in the community."
