A controversy has erupted online over whether local foods are posh enough for the exclusive Diner en Blanc (The White Dinner).

In the run-up to this "pop-up picnic" to be held at a secret venue on Thursday, local food blogger Daniel Ang, invited to cover the event, posted 12 suggestions on what guests could bring.

The following local foods were on his list on his blog on Tuesday: chee cheong fun (rice noodle rolls), fishballs, chicken rice, chwee kueh (steamed rice cake) and tau hway (soya beancurd).

As he was a guest, he asked the organisers whether his post was all right, and was told it was.
