SUTD offers bond-free scholarships to attract top minds
The Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD) will introduce four new scholarship schemes next year, in a bid to attract the nation's top students.
All bond-free, the scholarships - ranging from $11,000 to $100,000 - will draw from an annual $1.5 million fund donated by organisations that include the Singapore Hokkien Huay Kuan and Keppel Care Foundation.
Speaking at a press conference on Thursday at the university's campus in Dover Drive, Provost Chong Tow Chong said attracting top students is a challenge for a new university such as SUTD.
"We hope our enhanced scholarships, which provide a more comprehensive package, will help level the playing field in attracting high-calibre students to SUTD," he said, adding: "Students might sometimes feel that we have not established a track record yet."
