Almost 4,000 people have signed up for subscriptions in response to The Straits Times' (ST) latest subscription drive launched three weeks ago.

Of the 4,000, two in five are new subscribers, while the rest are existing subscribers who converted their vendor subscriptions into direct ones or renewed their existing direct subscriptions, said Mr Chua Wee Phong, executive vice-president of circulation at Singapore Press Holdings (SPH).

The "Subscription Pleasures" campaign, which runs till the end of August, rewards both new and existing subscribers with a gift and a chance to win a prize in a lucky draw for becoming direct subscribers.

Such subscribers deal directly with SPH instead of newspaper vendors on all subscription-related queries and can make payment by credit card.
