Waiting times for some bus services have been reduced after the first service improvements under a $1.1 billion bus plan were rolled out last Monday for more than 20 bus services islandwide.

The Straits Times observed three services - trunk service 70 and feeder routes 920 and 922 - during peak hours last week and found buses arriving largely within the improved frequency stipulated under the bus plan.

Bus operators SBS Transit and SMRT have added 335 weekly trips to 26 heavily used services during peak hours, as part of the Bus Service Enhancement Plan.

For instance, SMRT's Bukit Panjang service 922 operated within its new stipulated frequency of 12 to 17 minutes in the evening, down from 24 to 25 minutes the previous week.
