An SMRT bus that broke down on the Bukit Timah Expressway (BKE) and brought Thursday morning's rush hour traffic to a standstill has been removed.

The Land Transport Authority said the SMRT bus broke down at the Bukit Panjang Road entrance into the BKE.

Photos from readers showed commuters caught in the jam alighting from buses and walking away.
