SingTel to offer mobile remittance by end-2012

Sending money will soon be as simple as sending a text message.

The service, called mRemit, is Singapore's first mobile-to-mobile remittance service to be launched by SingTel later this year.

Unlike traditional remittance services, mRemit will allow money to be wired to an overseas recipient instantly, SingTel said at a press conference.

The service is primarily targeted at foreign workers and their employers here who subscribe to SingTel's mobile services.
