SingTel jumps on silver bandwagon with discounted mobile plans for seniors

In a move to cater to more seniors, SingTel on Tuesday announced postpaid mobile plans that are 20 per cent off the regular price for customers aged 55 and above.
The telco is offering its new Seniors SuperLite plan at $22.32 a month, down from $27.90 for a regular SuperLite plan, while a new Seniors Lite plan costs $31.92, down from $39.90 a month for the normal Lite plan.
Both plans come with 100 minutes of local outgoing talk time and free incoming calls. But the Lite plan comes with more mobile data to surf on 4G at 2GB instead of 100MB, as well as more bundled text messages, at 800 instead of 500. The plans apply to new sign-ups and existing customers when they renew their contracts.
SingTel noted that half of its customers aged 55 and above have signed up for mobile data plans, so it came up with the discounted plans to encourage more seniors to sign-up for such services. The telco added that based on feedback from seniors, many were worried about the costs of data plans and were unsure about how they would be charged for using mobile data.
