Singapore River gets a boost from private initiative

National Development Minister Khaw Boon Wan on Friday lauded a local private initiative aimed at sprucing up the walkways along the Singapore river.
The collaboration - named Singapore River One - is made up of 22 stakeholders and business operators in Boat Quay, Clarke Quay and Roberston Quay.
Their aim is to maximise the business potential of the river which links the quays, and the first step is to enhance the pedestrian experience by adding more recreational areas, photo vantage points and street furniture.
Their previous efforts include reducing touting among the restaurants in Boat Quay.
