Singapore will not be participating in the next edition of the Venice Biennale, the most prestigious contemporary visual arts show in the world.

The 55th edition of the oldest and most important international festival for contemporary visual art, will be held in 2013.

In a statement issued to Life!, the National Arts Council said this is part of its ongoing review of all its platforms and the Council's strategy to "critically re-assess Singapore's long-term participation" at this event. Singapore has been participating at the Biennale since 2001.

Singapore will not be participating in the next edition of the Venice Biennale, the most prestigious contemporary visual arts show in the world.
