Singapore to launch YouTube short film channel
Plan is to show at least 40 local titles over a year plus feature film trailers
A dedicated channel to showcase Singaporean short films will be launched on video-sharing website YouTube next month. It will be overseen by the Media Development Authority (MDA), which last week asked for proposals from interested parties to set up and manage the channel.
The MDA plans to put up at least 40 titles in a year-long programme as well as trailers for the Republic's feature films in a bid to build up Singaporean and international audiences.
The roster of films will be updated regularly and the channel can also serve as an online short film archive for researchers and students, it said.
The movies will be selected by an organising committee but its members and the criteria for the films have not been determined yet.
