Singapore joins largest start-up competition worldwide

Singapore will join 39 other cities in the world to be part of the world largest start-up competition this weekend.

More than 10,000 entrepreneurs, designers and developers from all over the world will gather to come up with innovative ideas for start-ups

An inaugural 36-hour "hackathon" called AngelHack Singapore 2013 will take place at the Microsoft Singapore Office in One Marina Boulevard on Saturday and Sunday.

Close to 180 individuals will compete for the top prize of a 12-week mentorship programme with tech veterans, Pieter Kemps from Amazon Web Services and Steven Goh from social network company Mig33. The mentorship programme will culminate in a two-week trip to Silicon Valley where the winning teams from AngelHack events around the world will compete for the grand prize that includes an investment deal.
