Singapore and Britain share close links that have grown stronger over the years, said President Tony Tan.

Speaking at a state banquet at the Istana on Tuesday in honour of Britains's Prince William and his wife Catherine, Mr Tan said the United Kingdom is Singapore's fourth largest European trading partner.

More than 3,000 British companies have established a presence in Singapore.

The 30,000-strong British community in Singapore also has a strong and vibrant presence here, he said.
