SilkAir signs $6.1b letter of intent with Boeing to buy 54 aircraft
Singapore Airlines' regional arm, SilkAir, has made its biggest aircraft buy ever.
In a statement to the Singapore Exchange, the airline said it has signed a US$4.9 billion (S$6.1 billion) letter of intent with Boeing to purchase 54 aircraft - 23 B-737-800s and 31 B-737 Max 8s. The deal includes options for another 14 aircraft.
The planes will be delivered from 2014 onwards.
SilkAir currently has a fleet of 21 Airbus aircraft with three more due for delivery by end-2013.
